As a fellow resident of District # in Greenwich I ask that you please support and vote yes for the Reusable Checkout Bag (RCB) Ordinance which will ban plastic checkout bags in the Town of Greenwich. I ask that you support this ordinance for the following reasons:

1. The proposed RCB Ordinance is not a tax but instead allows local business to collect bag fees so that they can re-invest in their businesses. Additionally as the ordinance is not a tax it is not subject to annual government budgets which should help its longevity.

2. The proposed RCB Ordinance has been developed through lessons learned from other plastic bag ordinances across the country. This makes the ordinance more likely to succeed in Greenwich and more defensible against loopholes and challenges.

3. The RCB Ordinance is supported by a number of local Greenwich small businesses.

4. The RCB Ordinance is consistent with Sustainable Connecticut and with the Sustainable Greenwich town initiative that was adopted by the board of selectmen in 2017.
